Web editing suites are often all-in-one solutions for web designers. They either come bundled with graphics editors or you can edit graphics right inside the HTML editor. As a bonus, many web editing suites include the capability to edit sites destined for computers, tablets, and smartphones.

Adobe Dreamweaver CC is the most popular professional web development software package available. This WYSIWYG editor offers power and flexibility to create pages that meet your needs, and it easily handles JSP, XHTML, PHP, CSS, JavaScript and XML development. It is a good choice for professional web designers and developers because it includes a grid system to do grid-based responsive layouts for three different device sizes at once, which is particularly convenient for users who edit websites for desktop, tablet and cellphone browsers. With Dreamweaver, you can design visually or by writing code.

Dreamweaver CC is available as part of Adobe's Creative Cloud for a monthly or yearly fee.

NetObjects Fusion 15

Fusion 15 is powerful website design software. It combines all the tasks you need to get your website up and running including development, design, and FTP. Plus, you can add special features to your pages like CAPTCHAs on forms and e-commerce support. It also has support for Ajax and dynamic websites. SEO support is built in.

The software includes access to NetObjects CloudBurst online library of free templates, styles and stock photos.

NetObjects offers a free version called Fusion Essentials for developers who want to try before they buy.

CoffeeCup HTML Editor

CoffeeCup software does a good job of providing what the company's customers want for a low price. The CoffeeCup HTML editor is a great tool for web designers. It comes with lots of graphics, templates, and extra features—like the CoffeeCup image mapper. After you purchase CoffeeCup HTML Editor, you receive free updates for life.

The HTML Editor includes an Open From Web option, so you can use any website as a starting point for your designs. A built-in validation tool checks code as you write it and automatically suggests tags and CSS selectors.

A free version of the software is also available. It lacks many of the features of the full version but it is a good HTML editor.

Microsoft Expression Web 4

Microsoft Expression Web 4 is the free version of the discontinued Expression Studio Web Pro software. If you are a freelance web designer who needs to be able to edit graphics in something more powerful than Paint, you should look at Expression Web 4. This suite combines what most web designers need to create sites with strong support for languages including PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ASP.Net.

Note: This free version is no longer supported by Microsoft. It runs on Windows 7, 8, Vista and XP.

Google Web Designer

Google Web Design is designed to create engaging HTML5 content. It offers animation and interactive elements to enrich your pages. The software interactions seamlessly with Google Drive and AdWords. Use build-in web components such as iFrame, maps, YouTube and image gallery to add functionality to your website. Each component reports metrics automatically.

Google Web Design is ideal for developers who work on computers and mobile devices. It easily handles 3D content with CSS3. You can rotate objects and designs along any axis.

Google Web Designer is currently a free beta program that is compatible with Windows 7 or later.
