Best Overall: MSI GS65 Stealth Thin

As the best laptop for Fortnite, the MSI GS65 lives up to its "Stealth Thin" moniker. This 0.69-inch thick, 4.1-pound gaming laptop is a highly portable powerhouse accentuated by a slick design and expert build quality. When it comes to playing Fortnite, the MSI GS65 has more than enough power to deliver a smooth and gorgeous gaming experience at high settings.

The six-core i7-8750H CPU has 4.1GHz of processing power, far exceeding the recommended 2.8GHz. Epic recommends 8GB of RAM. Well, the MSI GS65 doubles that with 16GB. How about the graphics card, the most important component to consider when gaming on PC? The GS65 is fitted with an Nvidia GeFroce GTX 1070 graphics card that comes with 8GB of dedicated RAM to let you really max out those settings. The GS65 has a 256GB solid-state drive (SSD) for fast-moving storage.

On top of performing well under the hood, the MSI GS65 has a beautiful 15.6-inch 1080p display, made even better by its solid 144Hz refresh rate that will prevent screen tearing while playing above 60fps. Quality internal speakers with superb bass provide a nice audio experience for those who don’t use headphones.

Runner-Up, Best Overall: Acer Predator Helios 300

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is more of a hulking gaming laptop. Coming in at six pounds, it’s not as sleek or convenient to bring with you on the go, but the Helios 300 has awesome performance that’s great for playing Fortnite. It also helps that Helios 300 is significantly cheaper than the MSI GS65.

The Core i7 processor has a standard clock rate of 2.8GHz and can boost up to 3.8GHz when needed. Fitted with a GeForce 1060 graphics card with 6GB of dedicated RAM, the Predator Helios 300 is just a tiny step below the MSI GS65 in the graphics department. That difference matters with some games, but you can play Fortnite at high settings with either card. Like the GS65, the Predator Helios has 16GB of RAM, which is more than enough for not just Fortnite but more intensive games as well.

The Helios 300 has a wonderful 1080p IPS display that promotes wide and clear visuals across its 15.6 inches of screen real estate. The well-designed keyboard features cool red backlighting, and with seven hours of battery life, you can game for hours on end without scrambling for the charger.

Best ASUS: ASUS ROG Strix Hero II

The ASUS Rog Strix Hero II quite similar to the Predator Helios when it comes to specs. The Intel Core i7-8750H processor can boost up to 3.9GHz, and it has the same GTX 1060 graphics card with 6GB of dedicated RAM. Likewise, the Strix Hero II has 16GB of RAM and a fast 256GB SSD.

The slim-bezel 1080p display has a rapid 144Hz refresh rate and IPS technology, resulting in an excellent range of colors and clear, wide viewing angles. So where does the ROG Strix Hero II differ from the Predator Helios? For one, its keyboard is based on that of a traditional desktop. A large spacebar and four customizable hotkeys are the obvious benefits. The ROG Strix also has RangeBoost technology. So if you like to play Fortnite away from your wireless router, you have more range for your Wi-Fi connection.

In addition to the 256GB solid-state drive, you get a 1TB hard drive. It’s best to install Fortnite and other games you play often on the SSD, but the additional storage space is a helpful bonus considering how much space modern games tend to take up on your hard drive.

Best Midrange: ASUS TUF FX505DT-AH51

ASUS is known for creating premium gaming laptops, but it turns out to have a knack for making excellent midrange laptops as well. The ASUS TUF FX505DT delivers high-quality Fortnite performance at a lower-than-expected price.

The AMD Ryzen 5 R5-3550H processor is a midrange AMD CPU, but it gets the job done just fine. On the GPU side of things, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card is a budget GPU with enough power to eclipse the recommended settings. While you may not be able to get high-end performance across the board with the GTX 1650 in Fortnite, you can still crank the textures up and get a smooth 60fps experience en route to Victory Royale.

While ASUS may have compromised on the processor and graphics card, the display and keyboard are top-notch. The 15.6-inch 1080p has IPS technology and a great 120Hz refresh rate. The military-grade keyboard provides excellent durability, along with style, thanks to RGB lighting effects.

Best Budget: Dell Inspiron 15 7567 Gaming Laptop

If Fortnite is the primary reason you’re purchasing a new laptop, the Dell Inspiron 15 7567 Gaming Edition is worth your consideration. This is a mid-tier gaming laptop through and through, which makes it a pretty great rig for running Fortnite at solid, if not amazing, settings.

The i5-7300HQ processor has four cores and a standard clock speed of 2.5GHz. That’s technically below the recommended 2.8GHz speed, but this Inspiron can turbo boost up to 3.5GHz. It aligns with the recommended RAM with 8GB of fast DDR4 memory. The graphics card is admittedly mid-tier, and we wouldn’t recommend it if Fortnite isn’t the primary game you play. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 isn’t a bad graphics card by any means. However, it is decidedly less capable than newer Nvidia cards.

In Fortnite, for example, it exceeds the recommended benchmark, but you still might have an issue if you try to push the settings to the max. That said, you can get a steady 60ps with the 7567. The 15.6-inch 1080p display has an anti-glare coating, which helps when playing around natural light.

Best Value: Acer Nitro 5 AN515

Acer’s Nitro lineup of laptops are speedy little machines thanks to their mobile processors. The i5-8300H processor handles all of your Fortnite needs, though it's not ideal for more intensive games and multi-tasking. You can get Fortnite running beautifully with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card that comes with 4GB of dedicated RAM. Though a budget card, the 1050 Ti has superb performance, allowing you to maintain a steady 60fps while building elaborate structures and engaging in intense firefights.

The AN515 is bolstered by 8GB of RAM, which is enough to run Fortnite without a hitch. It’s enough RAM to run just about any game without a problem and lets you get full use out of the 1050 Ti graphics card. With a 256GB SSD, you can store several triple-A games in addition to Fortnite.

Featuring a 15.6-inch 1080p display, Fortnite looks stunning in high definition on the Acer Nitro 5. Even if it is a mid-tier gaming laptop, you can still get high-end overall performance when playing Fortnite.

Best Splurge: Razer Blade 15

Talk about overkill. The Razer Blade 15 is the best gaming laptop money can buy, and despite its high asking price, it's one of the best laptops for Fornite, specifically, as well. Razer advertises it as a "zero compromise powerhouse." That description is entirely warranted. Now it may be silly to include the Razer Blade 15 on a list centered around Fortnite, but if you really do want the best gaming laptop for Fortnite and other triple-A games, this is it.

The Razer Blade 15 comes in multiple configurations, all of which are quite pricey. Each configuration comes with a 9th-generation i7-9750H processor with six cores and a whopping 4.5GHz Turbo Boost speed. The star of the show is the GPU. You can either get an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 or RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics card. These high-end Nvidia cards are specifically designed to work efficiently in small rigs, such as laptops. Don’t worry about adjusting your settings. They’ll be cranked up to the max. It’s that powerful.

Couple the amazing graphics cards with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, and the Razer Blade 15 is a performance beast capable of playing games like Fortnite while streaming, with plenty of processing power and RAM to spare. The 15.6-inch 1080p display has an understated matte finish and a staggering 240GHz refresh rate. Even when running games with unlocked framerates, you won’t see any screen tearing or inconsistencies. This is as good as it gets for gaming laptops.

Best Mac: Apple Macbook Pro (15-inch, 16GB RAM, 512GB Storage)

Macs aren’t known for gaming, but Fortnite is available on macOS. Some people simply prefer Macs over PCs. If you’re one of those folks who also happens to be a Fortnite fan, your choice is pretty simple. The 15-inch Macbook Pro is a workhorse laptop capable of doing a wide variety of things very well — including running Fortnite.

First things first, let’s talk about graphics. Macbooks fare differently in this department, with older laptops struggling to keep up with current generation games. The latest Macbook Pros come with Radeon Pro 555X graphics, which are fairly comparable to the GeForce GT 1020. It’s not a high-end card, but Apple builds its machines to get the most out of its parts. You won’t have any problems getting smooth performance with the Radeon Pro 555X in Fortnite, much thanks to its 4GB of video memory.

The 9th-generation i7 processor has six fast cores and an impressive Turbo Boost speed of 4.5GHz. With 16GB of RAM and a 256GB solid-state drive, the Macbook Pro is lightning fast. Despite limited number of Mac games on Steam, the 15.4-inch Retina display provides one of the best viewing experiences for gaming.
