Best for Detailed Nutrition Information: MyMacros+

Screenshots from MyMacros+.
What We Like
  • Easily adjust what you're tracking.

  • Created by a fitness professional.

  • Millions of food entries.

What We Don't Like
  • Nutrition information can sometimes be wrong or incomplete.

  • Not a free app, and basic features hidden behind additional paywall..

  • Not intuitive to use.

A keto-friendly app should have a solid database of food to choose from, and MyMacros+ does. With more than 5,000 foods listed, you should be able to find what you're looking for, however, the search and scan functions can sometimes be a little biggy. A simple restart of the app usually fixes that, and if you don't mind that, then you'll find this app has tons of information to help you stay on track. It also allows you to track multiple diet plans and change your diet plan at will. So, while this isn't a free app, it does offer lots of features that you may find useful.

Best for All Around Fitness: MyFitnessPal

Screenshots from the MyFitnessPal app.
What We Like
  • Easy to use and customize for keto diet plans.

  • More than six million foods available in the tracker.

  • Apps links with dozens of other apps to keep all your fitness information in one place.

What We Don't Like
  • Some great features are hidden behind a paywall.

  • Foods can be entered by users, so they're not always accurate.

  • Not always clear how exercise impacts calories burned.

MyFitnessPal has been around a while. It was a superb app before Under Armour bought it, and it's even better now. The app is easy to use and customize, and you have the freedom to set your goals or eating trends to suit whatever your fitness goals may be. There are two downsides, though. First, some of the best features of MyFitnessPal are hidden behind a paywall, and second you need to be attentive when entering food, because (since some is user entered and not verified) the nutritional information could be off. Overall, though, this app is definitely keto-friendly and at least worth trying.
