Electric Vehicles (EVs)
Basem Wasef is an author, journalist, and filmmaker with two decades of industry experience in the fields of transportation and mobility. He has logged tens of thousands of hours in a diverse span of vehicles—from electric superbikes to jet-powered race cars—on some of the world’s most iconic roads and tracks.
As a North American Car and Truck of the Year juror and a member of the Motor Press Guild, Basem evaluates the vast majority of new cars currently on the market. He is a big fan of personal transportation that inspires passion regardless of genre— be it scooters, crossovers, sports cars, or family haulers.
Basem has written for numerous auto publications, including MotorTrend, Car and Driver, and Kelley Blue Book.
When he’s not globetrotting to test the latest cars and motorcycles, he enjoys calling Los Angeles home with his wife, son, and Italian Greyhound named Georgie.
Basem graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
I’ve found that electric vehicles offer unexpected benefits for nearly every type of driver, from performance enthusiasts to everyday commuters. The genre has seen remarkable progress in recent years, from vehicle dynamics and refinement to range and charging speeds. My personal journey has taken me from measured skeptic to full-on EV enthusiast; among the four cars in our household is an electric Fiat 500e that performs city car duties with near-flawless ease, in addition to two remarkably over-engineered classic Mercedes-Benzes and a 1963 Land Rover Series 2A.
