How to Set Up HTC Backup The HTC Backup utility uses your free Dropbox storage to retain your content and preferences. It will enable you to backup and restore home screen settings including your headlines from BlinkFeed, your widgets, and the layout of the home screen. To begin using HTC Backup, either enable Back up phone daily during the setup of your HTC One, or: Navigate to your device's Settings. Tap Backup & Reset. Tap Backup Account. Choose your HTC account from the list and sign in if required. You may also be required to sign into your Dropbox account. If you want your photos to be automatically saved to Dropbox as you take them, enable this feature now. Go back to the Backup & Reset screen and switch on Automatic Backup. Your HTC One will now create a daily backup as long as you have a Wi-Fi or 3G/4G connection. Remember that using the 3G/4G connection to backup may incur additional charges from your carrier. In total, more than 150 important settings will be backed up daily including your internet bookmarks, any additions you have made to the personal dictionary, Wi-Fi network settings, app display settings, as well as all of the apps you have installed. It also saves all of your accounts and passwords. HTC Backup can store login details for your email accounts, social networks, apps such as Evernote, and your Exchange ActiveSync server. How to Use HTC Sync Manager Music, videos, calendar entries, documents, playlists, and other data not backed up by HTC Backup can be saved to your PC using the HTC Sync utility. HTC Sync is a separate piece of software that should be installed on your computer the first time you connect your HTC device to it via USB. To set HTC Sync Manager to import all of the music, photos, and videos found on your phone to your computer: Connect your HTC One to your computer using a USB cable. Launch the installer on your PC and follow the instructions to complete the installation. Sync Manager should automatically open on your PC. If the software does not install, you can download it yourself from the HTC support pages. Click Music Settings in the left pane when Sync Manager opens, and then select Copy all music from phone. Click Apply and Sync to initiate the backup. Click Gallery at the top of the window, then select Automatically import photos and videos from phone. Click Apply and Sync to initiate the backup. Repeat steps 3-6 each time you connect your phone to your computer. Alternatively, click the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner of the HTC Sync Manager window and select Sync Settings, then choose Sync automatically whenever the phone connects. If you are trying to create some extra space on your mobile device, delete photos and videos from phone after importing them to your PC. This removes the media from your HTC One after they have been safely copied over.
