Asus Zenfone 8 Releases in the US

The compact phone offers flagship power

A little over a month after its release, Asus is finally bringing the Zenfone 8 to the US.

Asus has revealed that the Zenfone 8, one of its latest powerhouse devices, is making the jump to the US, Android Police reports. The Zenfone 8, which released back in May, is just one of the latest offerings by the company, featuring the Snapdragon 888 platform in a smaller, more compact design than other flagship devices.

Part of the appeal of the Zenfone 8 comes in the form of its more compact screen and device size. Where many phones with flagship specs boast large 6.3- or 6.5-inch screens, the Zenfone 8 goes for a more modest 5.9-inch Samsung AMOLED display running at 120Hz with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 and an always-on display.

The Zenfone 8 also offers a 64MP camera, with 4-axis optical image stabilization and a 78,3-degree field of view. The main camera is accompanied by a 12MP ultrawide camera with F2.2 aperture, dual PD autofocus, real-time distortion correction, and support for 4 cm macro shots.

The Front camera is a standard Sony 12 MP dual-pixel image sensor that offers both photo and portrait modes. The cameras will record footage up to 8K UHD at 24 FPS.

Despite being smaller than other similar devices out there, the Zenfone 8 also offers dual stereo speakers with Dirac HD Sound and utilizes Qualcomm’s audio codec to deliver a loud and clear sound experience. And it runs a 4,000 mAh battery, providing longer battery life than you might expect from a slightly smaller device.

Since the phone was released this year, Asus also offers support for 5G networks, though the company warns users should check for compatibility with their local carrier before purchasing. The Zenfone 8 is available via the Asus online store, and starts at $629 for the 128GB model, though it is currently on sale with $30 off, making it just $599.
