Apple’s Clips app provides users with a fun and exciting way to take photos or videos. Just snap a quick pic or video, then apply a collection of fun effects and filters to jazz it up. Most impressive is the app's new ability to transport you to other worlds with 360-Degree selfie Scenes. Grab your iPhone X and let’s get started!

iPhone Requirements for Selfie Scenes

At the current moment, the Clips app requires what Apple calls a TrueDepth camera; primarily, it can discern your face and body from the background. Phones from the iPhone X line are the only iPhones to offer this ability, so other users will sadly need to sit out until their next device upgrade comes around. However, don’t despair, as you can still enjoy many other features of the Clips app even if you don't have Apple's latest phone.

Accessing Selfie Scenes in Apple Clips

To get started, download the Apple Clips app from the App Store — the application itself is completely free with no additional purchases required. Once the Clips has been added to your iPhone home screen tap on it to begin taking photos and videos.

As soon as the application has launched, select the Scenes option below the camera’s viewfinder; this will place you into the newly designed Scenes mode. Scroll through the many available options and tap a scene to download it to your iPhone.

At the bottom of the screen, you will then be able to select from a collection of different environments to place yourself in scenes such as a city metropolis, a beautiful riverfront, an 8-bit landscape, a Japanese tea garden, the center of the solar system and more.

Enter a World of Disney — StarWars and More

You can even take some time to explore your favorite spots in the StarWars universe including the Millennium Falcon and a star destroyer. Disney fans will also enjoy the ability to immerse themselves in Dory’s Reef from Finding Dory and the Scare Floor from Monster’s Inc.

Once you have selected a scene, you’ll be able to use common iPhone camera controls to snap a photo or video. Merely tap the small white circle to capture your favorite pose or hold down the elongated red button to record a video.

Add Stickers and Effects to Tune Your Shot

If you are feeling creative, you can also opt to include labels, stickers, and emojis within your snapshots. Let your artistic side come out as you create the ultimate selfie!

The process doesn't have to end once you have recorded your favorite new clip. Saved videos allow you to go a step further; enter an easy editing mode by tapping the clip you wish to alter at the bottom of the camera screen.

Use the video tools to edit effects, alter the volume, and trim away any parts of the video you don’t want to share. With the trim tool, simply drag the yellow bars at either end of the clip to select the portions of a video that you wish to keep, then hit the apply button to save it.

Once you are pleased with your digital creation, just hit the share button (the box with an arrow pointing upwards) in the lower right-hand corner of the app to quickly save it to your phone, or send it via your favorite social media or messaging app. Now get out there and take some amazing selfies; the options are limitless!
