Amazon Opens Preorders for Wall-Mountable Echo Show 15 Smart Display

It ships in December

If you are in the market for one gigantic smart display, Amazon has officially got you covered.

The company opened up preorders today for their forthcoming Amazon Echo Show 15 smart display. Those interested in reserving a unit can now do so at the official product page, but the $250 displays don't begin shipping until early December.

Amazon Echo Show 15

The Echo Show 15 features a 15.6" display and ships with all the hardware you'll need to mount it on a wall, which is a first for these kinds of smart screens.

The display can also sit on a countertop, though you'll have to purchase stand accessories separately.

The 1080p screen can be mounted horizontally or vertically and boasts a front-facing camera with a physical shutter, side speakers, and a mute button for turning off the microphone.

The Echo Show 15 is powered by Amazon's new AZ2 chip, which allows for facial recognition capabilities. This tech further personalizes the experience for each user, with individualized widgets popping up for whoever is staring at the screen.

For those worried about privacy, any information gleaned from the AZ2 chip's facial recognition component is stored locally and not uploaded to the cloud.

Of course, you’ll get all of the Alexa-enabled bells and whistles here, including to-do lists, music streaming, instituting video calls, and more.

The smart display also features something called Alexa Guard, a security feature that leverages the microphone to monitor for disturbances.
