Jump Into Amazon’s New Co-op Shooter Now

There's a brand new multiplayer shooter on PC and it's free

We're all gaming a lot more right now thanks to the pandemic, but you might be getting tired of Overwatch, Apex Legends, and Fortnite. With today’s launch of Crucible, Amazon just might have your next favorite game.

Amazon’s first big-budget sci-fi shooter, Crucible, is out today as a free-to-play game on Steam.

Behind the scenes: We’ve already got a lot of games like this on our consoles and PCs, including Fortnite, Overwatch, Apex Legends, and more. Amazon is taking its first tentative steps into becoming a game developer instead of just a publisher, making Crucible a litmus test for the company. It doesn’t hurt that Amazon owns Twitch, either, the “watch me play video games” service; in fact, many reviews of this new release have pointed out how watchable Crucible is. That’s most likely by design.

Where to get it: Head on over to the Steam store and you’ll likely see Crucible on the main store page. If not, you can search for it, then download to your PC for free.

PC System Requirements

Windows 7 64-bit

  • Intel i5-3570 or AMD FX6300
  • 8 GB RAM
  • GTX 660 or ATI Radeon HD 6950
  • 15 GB installation space

Windows 10

  • Intel i5-6500 (3.2 Ghz) or AMD Ryzen 3 2200G
  • 8 GB RAM
  • GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 570
  • 15 GB installation space

Bottom line: It may not take the bigger industry by storm, but Crucible may become your favorite new free-to-play game. If nothing else, the price is right.
