The new feature allows you to say, "Alexa, Play Something on Netflix," and Netflix will give you a show or movie you might enjoy based on what you previously watched, according to a Fire TV blog post. The feature only works if you have an Amazon Fire TV device and speak into your Alexa Voice remote. Getty Images/Dennis Fischer Photography The Verge reports that the promotions for the new feature say it's "available first on Fire TV," meaning other voice assistant platforms like Google or Comcast might eventually get the feature as well. Despite Amazon having its streaming platform—Amazon Prime Video—Netflix is the first to incorporate Alexa voice controls. However, it's safe to assume Alexa controls could come to other streaming services like Hulu or Prime Video in the future. Netflix's Play Something feature debuted in April and is the streaming service's solution to decision-making fatigue. The feature cuts the time you spend scrolling endlessly to find the right show or movie to watch and instead chooses something for you that it thinks you will like. @sitthiphong via Twenty20 If you don't like the first suggestion offered, the 'Play Something Else' option on Netflix might refer you to a series or film you're already watching, a series or film on your watch list, or an unfinished series or movie you may want to revisit. Aside from the new Play Something feature, Amazon Alexa also has Netflix voice control capabilities like playing a specific movie or TV show, skipping to the next episode, pausing or stopping what you're watching, and more.
