Following up on the recent release of its groundbreaking 55-inch 55EC9300 1080p Curved Screen, OLED TV that is selling for less than $3,000 on the street, LG continues to push the OLED TV boundary with the introduction of its latest set, the 65-inch 65EC9700.

What makes the 65EC9700 significant, unlike the 55EC9300, is not a lower price (the 65EC9700 has a pretty high suggested price of $11,999.99), but the fact that it is the first OLED TV to reach the consumer market that can display native 4K resolution images. Also, the 65EC9700 is the first OLED TV with a screen size larger than 55-inches. Up until now, although available in both larger (up to 105-inches)  and smaller (as small as 39-inches) screen sizes, the only 4K Ultra HD TVs marketed to consumers use LED/LCD display technology.

However, OLED's Plasma-Killing black level and the 65EC9700's 4K resolution display capability isn't all you get.

This curved screen set is also fully 2D and 3D compatible via LG Cinema 3D technology (dubbed as 4K 3D+ on the 65EC9700), supporting comfortable to wear and less expensive battery-free Passive Polarized Glasses (4 Pairs Included). For added 3D support, the 55EC9700 includes real time 3D conversion for 2D sources and 3D to 2D conversion (if desired).

Also, for two player gameplay, the 65EC9700 provides split screen point-of-view (additional glasses purchase required).

3D or two player gameplay may not be something you normally consider, but you might change your mind once you see 3D or two player gameplay on an OLED TV, especially on a 4K Ultra HD set, such as the 65EC9700.

In addition to its video display capabilities, the 65EC9700 is also a fully functional Smart TV. The 65EC9700 incorporates LG's WebOS operating system. Both an Ethernet port and built-in Wifi are provided for network/internet connectivity, as well as built-in HEVC decoders, which allows access to 4K Netflix streaming (if desired and you have a fast broadband connection), as well as other streaming content services (Hulu Plus, Vudu, Amazon Instant Video, YouTube, CinemaNow, and more), full Web Browsing, and access to content stored on other DLNA compatible devices on your home network can easily be accessed.

However, there is more. The 65EC9700 also features both WiDi, which allows wireless streaming from compatible WiDi-equipped Laptops or Ultrabooks, Miracast, as well as MHL compatibility, which allows connection of compatible smartphones and tablets.

Additional connectivity includes 4 HDMI inputs, 1 Shared Component/Composite video input, 3 USB ports, and a digital optical audio output for connection to an external audio system. An RF input connection for reception of over-the-air HDTV broadcasts is also provided.

All of the features and functions of the 65EC9700 can be controlled by LG's Magic Remote, which is provided.
